What are dentures?

Dentures are removable false teeth made of plastic or metal. They are designed to fill a gap caused by missing teeth.

Gaps left by missing teeth can cause problems with speech, eating and bad breath. Teeth either side of the gap may grow into the space at an angle.

Dentures can be complete or partial, depending on the number of missing teeth. Complete dentures (a full set) can replace you upper or lower teeth. Partial dentures can replace 1 or more missing teeth.

Dentures can also be prescribed if you’re waiting to have a bridge fitted. Either case, dentures ensure that you can smile with confidence and prevent many speech and eating problems.
